Chaired by Louis Philippe-Dreyfus, the French Foreign Trade Advisors’ Maritime Economy Expert Group (GEEM) aims to provide public authorities with expertise on the importance of a sustainable maritime economy, both for the development of France’s foreign trade and for its energy, economic, and military independence. Alongside the French Maritime Cluster, the group also aims to support French companies in their sustainable international development and contribute to France’s maritime influence.
Published in May 2022, the GEEM’s third report follows on from the first two reports on the maritime economy and the blue and sustainable economy. Entitled “Sovereignty and Maritime Affairs,” the 2022 edition is devoted to the issue of France’s sovereignty, and more specifically its maritime sovereignty. The maritime domain is at the heart of all issues: economic, security, military deterrence, industrial, etc. The current political, military, and economic situation, and more particularly recent events, make this issue essential. The supply of raw materials, such as agricultural commodities, and the capabilities and resources available to our armed forces have become a primary concern for all French people.
