The invasion of Ukraine has had a significant impact on cargo supply between Europe and Asia, as it has led to a sharp decline in the freight capacity of European, Korean, and Japanese airlines, as well as the cessation of operations by major Russian and Ukrainian freight companies (Air Bridge, Dniepr, etc.). As soon as the invasion began in March, the European Union closed its entire airspace to Russian-registered aircraft. In response to this measure, Russia also closed its airspace to European, Korean, and Japanese airlines. Traditional airlines’ cargo holds account for around 50% of global air freight capacity.
